This year, the theme of our Summer Reading Program is Build a Better World! Children, teens, and adults can sign-up to earn prizes for reading over the summer and getting out in the community. We will have tons of programs and events for patrons of all ages to inspire creativity, encourage curiosity, and help our community grow together. Visit our website, www.altoona.lib.ia.us, for more information and to sign-up for events. Registration for our reading club starts June 1st and is free for all patrons. Children who participate in the Summer Reading Program are invited to join us for our Reading Rumpus on August 26th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.

This year, we will have a Summer Sign-up Saturday on June 3rd from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Patrons can stop by and get information about different activities for families happening in the metro area this summer. Representatives from the Blank Park Zoo, Kids Café, Altoona 4-H, and more will be available to answer questions at the event. Families will also be able to sign-up for the reading program and help us decorate blocks to use in our summer decorations.

Hey teens!  We’ll kick things off with an Escape Room lock-in, and dabble in everything from DIY projects and cooking experiments to movie nights and robotics throughout the summer.   Complete punch cards by checking out items and coming to programs to earn small prizes, and enter to win one of several grand prizes.  Here’s the best part: 4 full cards will earn you a ticket to our finale event in August: a Game On! Game Truck party!
