On Monday, June 19th, 2017, Altoona City Council passed Ordinance No. 06-05-2017 #01 (465) approving the sale of fireworks within the City. This approval means that certain retail stores will be allowed to, with the proper permits, sell first and second-class consumer fireworks. Fireworks are permitted to be sold inside retail stores between June 1st and July 8th, and between December 10th and January 3rd each year.

Fireworks may be sold under temporary structures in the parking lots of retail stores that are selling fireworks. The fireworks in the temporary structures must match the fireworks sold inside the retail store. Temporary structures selling fireworks are allowed between June 13th and July 8th each year.

Fireworks are not permitted to be discharged within the Altoona city limits. This does not apply to novelties (sparklers, poppers, glow worms, etc.) Those are allowed to be sold and used at all times.

This Ordinance will go into effect on June 22nd, 2017.
