2018 SPRING CLEAN UP – Tuesday trash day = April 28th Spring Clean UpApr 4, 2018

Spring Clean-Up Coming April 21 or 28

If the spring has sprung from your old sofa, you’re in luck because Spring Clean-Up is just around the corner!

Altoona’s City Wide Cleanup will run a little differently this spring.  The city wide clean-up will take place over two (2) separate days.

If Monday is your scheduled trash day, then Saturday, April 21st is the day for your clean-up items.  If Tuesday is your scheduled trash day, then Saturday, April 28th is the day for your clean up items..

Spring Clean-Up is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted trash that won’t fit in your garbage cart or may require a large item sticker. Examples include a couch, desk, lamp or chair. When you’re considering setting an item out for Spring Clean-Up, ask yourself:

  • Can two people lift it into a truck?
  • Is my pile smaller than the bed of a pick-up truck?

If the answers to these two questions are yes, then kick those items to the curb by 6:00 am on your scheduled day. Following the guidelines will help maintain consistent garbage rates and keep everyone safe to continue the program in the future.

So, what are the guidelines? Besides the two items already mentioned, here’s what NOT to place at your curb for Spring Clean-Up:

  • Appliances – Schedule with hauler, large item sticker
  • Tires – Bring to 406 5th Ave. SW from 8:00 am to Noon on April 28th. Limit five tires per household.
  • Hazardous Waste – Bring to Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off, Located at: 1105 Prairie Drive SE, Bondurant.

Only residents on city services are eligible to participate in Spring Clean-Up. If you have questions about your neighborhood, call City Hall at 515.967.5136.
