Eastern Polk Regional Development, Inc. was formed by four Iowa communities; Altoona, Bondurant, Mitchellville and Pleasant Hill, in order to stimulate economic growth in Eastern Polk County. Altoona Crossing Retail Center
The Center, located at 3770 8th Street SW, is planned to open late summer / early fall 2006.

Bankers Trust
Bankers Trust is the newest bank in Altoona. The bank should open in late fall 2006. It is located at 3820 8th Street SW.

Clay Elementary School
The newest elementary school in the Southeast Polk Community School District is scheduled to open for new students in the fall of 2007. The elementary will be the largest in the school district.

Foxton Village Retail Center
This center is located at 1005 8th Street SW and should have its first bays finished by summer of 2006.

Holiday Inn Express
Altoona's newest hotel, Holiday Inn Express, is located just off Interstate 80 at exit 143. The address is 1560 1st Avenue North. The hotel should be open winter of 2006.
