Citizen Handbook
Early in the new millennium, Altoona is one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa. With that growth there have been many changes in our community. Not only to the laws that govern us, but also the many improvements made such as new parks and trails, a new library, aquatic center, skate park and fire station. With all the changes that have taken place it is becoming more of a challenge for new and existing citizens alike to keep current with what is going on in the city. In an effort to keep the citizens better informed we have developed the “Citizens Handbook” to help each resident better understand the community that they live in. We hope this handbook proves useful to you and would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions that you might have. If you would like additional copies of this book please feel free to call the Altoona City Hall at 967-5136. You may also send us a request via our Contact Us page. Thank you for allowing us to serve you. TIMOTHY J. BURGET
