The Community Development Department’s task is to work on behalf of the citizens of Altoona to create a livable community and plan for a better future. The planning tools used to accomplish this task are the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and the Subdivision Regulations.
The Community Development Department assists and provides support to the City Council, Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Commission, and the general public on various planning and land development issues. Working with developers, residents, and other City departments, staff works to encourage orderly growth and redevelopment while preserving a quality living environment.
