Sidewalk and Tree/Shrub Inspection ProgramApr 7, 2020
The City of Altoona’s annual sidewalk and tree/shrub inspections takes place in the spring and summer months. So, how does this work, you may ask. The city has identified four (4) zones for this program; these zones are on a rotating schedule and each year one (1) zone is walked by the City to identify any defects and encroachments that are defined by Chapter 136 (Sidewalks) and Chapter 151 (Trees) of the Altoona Code of Ordinances. In 2020 we will be focusing on Zone 1 (please see map for details of this area). We will only be inspecting sidewalks and encroaching trees/shrubs located within this zone. If a complaint is received regarding issues of a sidewalk condition or an encroachment of trees/shrubs located outside this particular zone we will conduct an inspection and if it is deemed there is a compliance issue than the appropriate action to bring the property within compliance will be mandated.
