Spring Clean-Up and Tire Drop-Off

2023 Spring Cleanup

Mark your calendar! Metro Waste Authority has identified April 10th and 11th for 2023 Spring Clean-Up in Altoona! Residents should place their Spring Clean-Up items at the curb before 6AM on April 10th

What’s Accepted?
Items that can be set at your curb include:
  • Couch
  • Desk
  • Lamp
  • Toys
  • Mattress
  • Chairs
  • Doors
  • Carpet (must be cut into 4’ long x 18” diameter rolls)
What’s Not Accepted?
Items that should not be set out at your curb for Spring Cleanup include:
  • Appliances
  • Hazardous waste
  • Yard waste
  • Broken glass
  • Tires (can be taken to 406 5th Ave. SW, April 10-11, from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM)

Collection Guidelines
When you’re considering if an item is accepted during Spring Cleanup, ask yourself:

  • Can two people lift it?
  • Is my pile smaller than the bed of a pick-up truck?
If the answers to these two questions are yes, then kick those items to the curb!



2023 Scrap Tire Drop-Off

Tire Disposal

Altoona has partnered with Metro Waste Authority for a tire drop-off event April 10-11, from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. During this event, residents can drop off up to five tires (no rims) at the Altoona Streets Shop (406 5th Ave. SW) free of charge.
