CORNival Call For Artist

Start Date: Now  -  End Date: March 24th

Virtual Event

Status: Public

Details:

The Altoona Arts & Culture Commission is commemorating the 100th anniversary of the very first acre of commercial hybrid seed corn, grown and harvested here in 1923. The main attraction will be a summer-long exhibition of six-foot tall fiberglass corn sculptures, each uniquely brought to life by a local artist. If you are an artist looking to submit your application for your next commissioned piece, here is your call!

The sculptures will remain a city-wide showpiece of public art for years to come. We are excited to host you and your family this summer at multiple fun events in celebration of 100 years of hybrid seed corn, right here in Altoona, Iowa! The big kick-off celebration will take place 4th of July with a ribbon cutting at Haines Park, after the 4th of July parade!

More event details will be released soon.
