You're invited to Altoona Fire Department's Open House
The Altoona Fire Department is inviting people to experience firsthand what life is like as a firefighter and learn fire safety tips and techniques at its annual National Fire Prevention Week Open House.

- When: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8
Open House activities
The Fire Department has a list of free, family-friendly activities that will take place during their Open House event on Oct. 8. These activities include:
- Free lunch provided courtesy Hy-Vee
- Tour of the Altoona Fire Station, including fire trucks
- Meet Altoona Firefighters
- Watch a UnityPoint Life Flight helicopter land and tour the helicopter
- Take part in several emergency-themed learning stations.
