DART Paratransit’s Bus Plus Service Changes & Training Events
DART Paratransit’s Bus Plus service, which is an ADA door-to-door accessible service for approved-eligible persons with a disability, has launched new offerings impacting Altoona residents:
Bus Plus currently offers a Base Service Zone which, at minimum, covers a ¾-mile area in and around DART’s Fixed Route service with a cost of $3.50 per trip. DART now offers a new Bus Plus Premium Service Zone which extends the coverage area to encompass the remaining boundaries within Altoona not previously included for service, available at a premium fare of $30 per trip. Bus Plus riders can travel anywhere within the zone for all trips, excluding Medicaid-related travel.
Additionally, DART now offers Bus Plus riders free access to ride Fixed Route services, which includes Local Routes and Express Routes. Bus Plus riders will need to show a Bus Plus ID confirming their eligibility.
To aid Bus Plus riders in using these services, DART is offering a how-to-ride training event:
- WHEN: Monday, Nov. 13 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
- WHERE: DART Central Station (620 Cherry Street, Des Moines)
- RSVP:
- Contact DART Customer Service at 515-283-8100.
- Trainings will be held on the top of the hour and will last 45-60 minutes; please indicate which training date and time you would like to attend.
